I’m finally getting around to posting some old photos to our Gallery. This lot is from a month or so ago when Sharon, Joy and I visited the “Cans Festival” located in a tunnel under the now disused Eurostar Terminal at Waterloo. The Festival is basically a “designated stencil area” for street artists to exhibit their work. As you may have noticed from our previous blog entires, Sharon and I have some appreciation for street art. It’s often illegal and sometimes offensive, however I personally feel that more often than not it brightens up an otherwise dull and gloomy concrete jungle in which we live. In recent years, partly thanks to the work of Banksy, it has gained increasing acceptance. The Cans Festival is a celebration of this. Some of the artworks are truly remarkable. If you are interested, check out this site for more info. And now here are my photos of the exhibition (my favorite being the street cleaner sandblasting the cave-art) :
I’ve just received a newsletter from our favorite French street artist - “Invader”. He has recently returned from an “invasion” of India and Nepal:
