Despite nearing the end of another English Summer it still feel like we are in the middle of it. Not so much the wether but more the constant parties, festivals and carnivals. We forgot to take our camera to the Notting Hill Carnival last weekend, so unfortunately no photos to show you there. However did remember our camera the previous weekend for V Festival. It was our first “proper” festival, camping in a cow paddock in the Essex countryside for 4 days. We had an amazing time! The camping worked out perfectly and was lot of fun, and the music and bands were brilliant. I think we can look forward to doing it again some time, but I guess not until summer next year. Another summer is in full swing over here. Last Saturday we had friends over to watch the Gay Pride parade. As usual it was full of colourful characters. See photos here:
Then on Sunday we went up to Hyde Park for the last day of the O2 Wireless Festival. Photos here:
I’m finally getting around to posting some old photos to our Gallery. This lot is from a month or so ago when Sharon, Joy and I visited the “Cans Festival” located in a tunnel under the now disused Eurostar Terminal at Waterloo. The Festival is basically a “designated stencil area” for street artists to exhibit their work. As you may have noticed from our previous blog entires, Sharon and I have some appreciation for street art. It’s often illegal and sometimes offensive, however I personally feel that more often than not it brightens up an otherwise dull and gloomy concrete jungle in which we live. In recent years, partly thanks to the work of Banksy, it has gained increasing acceptance. The Cans Festival is a celebration of this. Some of the artworks are truly remarkable. If you are interested, check out this site for more info. And now here are my photos of the exhibition (my favorite being the street cleaner sandblasting the cave-art) :
We went to The Camden Crawl indy music festival and saw lots of live bands playing various pubs. Highlights for us were Kiwi band Ladyhawke playing at The Cuban bar in the Lock Markets, and Scottish band The Wombats playing at The Electric Ballroom.
I’ve just received a newsletter from our favorite French street artist - “Invader”. He has recently returned from an “invasion” of India and Nepal:
Check out these amazing photos (find and click the space invader in each shot):

Sunset in The Midlands
Our family & our friends mean a tremendous amount to us. It is unfortunate that most of you have never met each other. The fact is we are spread across three continents, so it is likely that our wedding may be the only time in our lives for everyone to get together. One day is just not enough! Indeed, a festival is in order! We would like you to stay with us at The Bend for 4 days of fun, food, adventure and relaxation!
Sharon & Chris
